El Questro
Up early and on the road by 8:00. About 380 Kms to do. We passed some very varied countryside and also went over the Ord River. Tony and I got excited about that because that was a big deal when we were at school and everyone learnt about this irrigation scheme in the far north.
We stopped at Warnum, otherwise known as Turkey Creek and were surprised to find a lovely shop and a very green, tree covered small caravan park. The only other stop was at Doon Doon, another roadhouse on the way. We were surprised to see a big plantation of some sort of fruit trees before the turn off to Kununurra. The last 16 Kms into El Questro were dirt with a couple of water crossings.
Arrived and paid for our two nights - $82 per night for a powered site!! Lovely site under tall trees and plenty of room. Had a quick lunch and the looked around and found the swimming hole behind the campsite so went for a dip - bit cool but very refreshing. Lazed on lawns for a while and relaxed. Went to bar for happy hour and stayed for dinner of stock mans stew. It was great to have some veggies. We were entertained by a country and western singer.
